Have our lives become a Circus?

While everyday news seems to go even further in the bonkers department, I find it amazing that we all seem to accept there's not much we can do about anything. We watch it all happen in front of us as a circus show. We enjoy the clowns for a bit, until their bullying comes our way. Then we freeze and play dead in the hope they'll spare us. We can't show our reluctance, they might target us. We're happy for them to go for others. We'll even laugh and clap as long as it keeps us out of trouble.
Stay low and hope for the best. Wait for the show to pass and for common sense to prevail.
We swear we won't fall for them again, but the clowns won't go. 'Stay a bit more, it's only the beginning, it will get much better, I promise!' they say.
Life feels like a circus. It is absurd, it can be funny and cruel. It fascinates us and scares us at the same time. It is overwhelming in the way it shrinks and outlives us in every way. It feels like we're only spectators in the grand scheme of things, in the 'Universe'.
But Life isn't our lives. We are the ones who define what our lives are. We are never just spectators of our destiny, we influence everything that happens around us, whether we want it or not. We are an active part of Life, we need to remember that.
The clowns and the bullies know that, of course. Their game is to persuade us we don't count, we haven't got a say, we don't matter. They're experts at convincing you that you are just a hopeless victim.
We need to stand up to the clowns who are bullying us at the moment. We don't have to cheer if we don't like it!
